DAWSON CREEK - A $3-million upgrade to Coleman Creek Road near Dawson Creek is underway and, when complete, will improve safety for families and industrial users in the region.
The project will include strengthening, widening and resurfacing the nine-kilometre road which is located approximately 28 kilometres north of Dawson Creek, off the Rolla Road.
Work on the project will be done by local contractors - in line with this year's South Peace highways program that places a priority on creating jobs for local workers, with $13 million targeted for day labour projects utilizing local labour and equipment.
The project began in late July and is expected to finish in mid-October.
This project is part of the more than $54 million in highway improvements in the South Peace this year. Over the past 10 years, the B.C. government has invested nearly $570 million to improve the highway network and community infrastructure in the South Peace.
